Froggy Visit, Weevil Visit & Benjamin, is it?

After completing an illustration (always good) I had my post-illustration celebration shower, and when I stepped out of the bathroom, who was waiting for me?
Bernie the common frog (Rana temporaria) sitting on the skirting board, next to Wallace the weevil.

Thanks for the visit little guys!
Its so nice to finally see the tadpoles from our pond grown up *sniff sniff* I'm such a proud mother.
The first frog I've seen down here in Fal, truly a great night.

This was a photo from nearly 2 years ago, on Dartmoor in the southwest of England, I went out frog catching with my godson Jamie.

And this is Bernie! From tonight in my humble abode in Falmouth Town.

And this is Wallace, Bernie's would be lunch had I not been so callous and taken him away.

This is the work of Benjamin Wright
I'll be doing a feature on him soon, so keep your eyes peeled

Finished, Squirrel & The Woods

Ahhhh thats more like it.
Perhaps I got my mojo back.

Here are the final versions of the illustration,
Which one do you guys like best?

Squirrels away!

Progress, Flying Squirrels & New Job

I'm currently working on a new illustration for the book 'When The Tree Flew' by Gabrielle Jonas

A flying squirrel doctor is on her way to her next appointment
Here's the progress report!

I start my 2nd job at the carehome on Monday. Fun times. Busy times... good times?

I really can't wait for the start of term, still another month away.
I really need a studio again, and other people around so that I can knuckle down to work and get faster... as much as I love illustrating, its pretty hard to do in an empty house with no escape from your work. Definitely need a studio with other people when I finish uni, else I don't think I'll survive too long.

Inspired Food, New Sites & Delicious Things

I've had a great day! I made a fantastic dinner, dessert too!

Ingredients- 1 acorn squash (I used a variety called celebration)
2 tbs brown sugar,
1 tbs organic honey,
2 cloves garlic,
1tsp salt,
dash of fresh ground pepper,
vegan butter (I used soya butter)
1 spring onion
1 small slice of red pepper

Cut the squash in half, scoop out the pips and the middle (save it all, you'll use it in a minute)
preheat your oven to 200 degrees c.
place both halves of the squash face down on a lined baking tray.
bake for 30mins.

While that is going on, get your pips and middle you scooped out of the squash, add the sugar, butter, garlic, honey, salt, ground pepper and onion. Mix it all together until well combined.

When the 30mins is up, take the squash out of the oven, turn it over and scoop the mixture you just made into the center of the squash.
Then place the squash back in the oven for 20mins.

Remove from the oven and plate up!

I chopped up some red pepper, coriander and garnished with some whole rocket leaves.
Then I dribbled extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar around the plate, added a tablespoon of chutney (spicy tomato and caramelized red onion works well)
And voilá!

I made a wordpress blog today,
Same one as here, just has better links to my shop and portfolio.

I'll still be updating this one. And that one.

I also have twitter now,
So say hi!
